Scouting: A Profession with a Purpose
Have fun and make a difference! Since 1910, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has helped change lives and build future leaders by combining educational and outdoor adventure with lifelong values and fun. Over 3,000 people volunteer their time to work with Scouting right here in Occoneechee Council. Only a few lucky ones get to experience a career in Scouting.

Unit Growth Executive
Position Title: Unit Growth Executive
Duration: Full-Time
Job Format: Hybrid
Works with assigned schools and community agencies within our twelve counties to develop Scouting programs for youth ages 5-17. Must be able to recruit and manage volunteers to help support the program. Ability to work within diverse communities is critical. Must have strong demonstrated sales skills, communication and people skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. 4-year college degree preferred.
The Unit Growth Executive for Occoneechee Council, Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) is a specialized position responsible for the organization of new units within the council boundaries.
1. Assume direct responsibility of creating awareness of Scouting through your assigned schools, community and faith-based organizations that will yield growth of the Scouting program (new units) through a relationship-based approach of sales.
2. Work within an annual calendar, responsible for the organization of a minimum of fifteen units (Cub Scout Packs, Scout BSA Troops, Venturing Crews or Sea Scout Ships)
3. Conduct annual visits with the heads of the charter organizations in units you organized to maintain an open and mutually satisfying line of communications.
ORGANIZING NEW UNITS: 100% of Time
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: 100% of Time
Automobile, , telephone, laptop computer, electronic media, printer/copy machine, display panels, file cabinets, alarm system, postage meter.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: 100% of Time
Kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 100% of Time
Light work.
MENTAL DEMANDS: 100% of Time
Reading, detail work, confidentiality, problem solving, language, stress, training, math, reasoning, verbal communication, written communication, customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, constant interruptions.
WORKING CONDITIONS: 95% of Time
The worker is subject to both inside and outside conditions but is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Must have five (5) or more years of sales experience.
Must be willing to accept and meet the Scouting America’s leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Attained 21 years of age or older unless prohibited by any applicable law.
Ability to work varied hours when necessary, evening activities and weekend work is frequently required to achieve positive objectives.
A Scouting background is helpful but not required for employment.

The Occoneechee Council carries out the mission of Scouting BSA in every community within our twelve counties service area.
